Compare New Plans to Existing College Series Structure

The two new plans represent a compilation of ideas meant to address changes to the college season that players communicated they wanted, including a more formalized regular season, a structure for tiered divisional play in the post-season, and revision of bid allocation methods and geographic boundaries. However, the plans both include significant departures from the existing college competitive structure (including the informal regular season and current UPA College Series).

What elements of the existing college competitive structure (regular season or UPA Series) are you glad to see replaced in either of these plans? What elements of the existing college competitive structure (regular season or UPA Series) do you like that are now specifically missing from these plans? What elements of the existing college competitive structure (regular season or UPA Series) do you like or dislike that still exist in some fashion in either or both of the proposed plans?

  1. I want gone sectionals for good teams and meaningless regular seasons.

  2. The UPA College Series is the most interesting and exciting series in the sport. It's lead to an explosion of ultimate which is positively impacting ultimate in both the post college and Junior levels of the game.

It aint broke - don't fix it!

I totally understand why folks want to re-invent the wheel but in this case it is not needed. These exercises are merely a symptom of "elitist control freakism" which is a significant
Characteristic of the ultimate player. (I'm not saying that in a negative way – It is a powerful human characteristic which ultimate develops and attracts)

Look at the current UPA College Series format It accomplishes all of the goals and objectives - with a clear winner.

If anything.... An expansion of the current Series could happen.Developing a multi tiered national Series could be created by simply using the finishing results from Sectionals (teams not making regionals continue into a tierIII regional competition and so on) and Regionals (teams not making Nationals continue to a tierII national competition)
